2025 marks new milestones in Komar’s
sustainability journey

This July, Komar shared its 2025 sustainability progress report, outlining key milestones and achievements in the company’s journey to becoming one of the most sustainable organizations in the apparel industry by 2030.  2025’s report reflects enhanced data reporting on the progress of Komar’s 2030 sustainability objectives, more deeply aligned with relevant criteria from the Global Reporting Initiative Standards.

Each year Komar reports progress against nine key sustainability objectives, aligned with its 2030 sustainability strategy—from energy conservation, to reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, water conservation, elimination of landfill waste, chemical compliance and use of sustainable materials.

Key progress highlights include the fast-tracking of wastewater and chemical compliance targets planned for 2025, further scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions reduction and internal renewable electricity adoption, and the increased use of sustainable materials throughout product development

“As a fully privately held company, we choose to report on sustainability, rooted in transparency and accountability rather than an obligation”

Komar achieved Cascale “Leader” ” recognition in its 2024/2025 membership cycle in 2025. This is the highest category a brand can achieve as a member of Cascale.  The company also achieved an “A” grade in the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) Supplier Engagement Assessment in 2025. This is a sub-assessment of CDP’s overall “Climate Change” assessment, which evaluates how effectively companies engage their supply chain on climate issues. And this month, the company achieved “Champion” status in the ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) Brands to Zero 2026 assessment. With rigorous scoring, ZDHC Champion Status is the highest level of recognition awarded to signatory brands within the ZDHC Brands to Zero Leader Programme, highlighting industry leaders who have successfully embedded sustainable chemical management into their corporate strategy. Komar achieved this milestone in its first-ever ZDHC Brands to Zero assessment after becoming a ZDHC signatory brand in January, 2026.

“At Komar, we do not call our sustainability progress report an “impact report.” The true measure of impact is for our stakeholders to judge, based on the progress we made in 2025 toward our 2030 sustainability objectives. As a fully privately held company, we choose to report on sustainability, rooted in transparency and accountability rather than an obligation. Guided by our motto, One Reputation, Real Values, we remain committed to turning commitments into action, avoiding both greenwashing and greenhushing as we advance our sustainability journey.” – Dr. Thiwanka de Fonseka, Chief Sustainability Officer, Komar

As global environmental pressures become increasingly urgent, Komar is committed to adapting its business processes and overall footprint  to ensure that sustainability is not treated as a standalone initiative, but as embedded throughout organizational practices from end to end. Building a more sustainable model for the apparel industry is  an undertaking that requires deep collaboration with suppliers, partners, global sustainability organizations and governing bodies. Komar’s 2025 sustainability progress report is a reflection of this collective commitment to a more transparent and climate resilient future for apparel.
